Main purpose of this role

The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for training development, delivery, and organization of training classes.  The Technical Training Specialist will under direction, evolve classroom and online training portfolio adding further training modules, lesson planning, updating and refining existing courses and adding a testing and certification component; where required this role will develop one-off customized training modules to meet specific customer requirements.
Supported by training administration this role will own and be responsible for the organization and administration of training delivery, organizing the training schedule, equipment availability, student documentation, classroom availability etc. 
Reporting to this role will be a number of contract training staff, this role will facilitate their pre-delivery training, monitor quality of delivery and drive corrective actions when required.
 
Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability
  • Identify customer training needs and update training courses accordingly
  • Develop and deliver a roadmap of training modules
  • Develop one-off customized training courses as per customers’ specific requirements
  • Develop, own, update and maintain standard student course material
  • Develop testing module to be added to each training course
  • Develop and publish a training schedule on a quarterly basis
  • Develop a student certification module aligned to the online and classroom training portfolio
  • Provide a development interface with online training development company
  • Develop internal training and manage the Learning Management System
  • Deliver training classes as per the schedule
  • Perform organizational administration in order to successfully deliver training, including sourcing and preparing equipment/systems, reserving training location and training instructor
  • Work closely with the training administrator to ensure coordinated logistics support
  • Manage and schedule contract Trainers as required
  • Perform quality control on all training classes delivered
  • Following customer feedback drive continuous improvement in the development and delivery of training
Requirements
  • US Citizen, Green Card holder or US Permanent Resident
Education/Degree: 
  • BS in Engineering, computer science or equivalent experience with communications satellite systems or similar technical background
  • Professional Certification for Trainer represents an advantage
Skills:
  • Customer focused mindset and knowledge of customer needs
  • Excellent command of MS Office package (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
  • Language skills: English; any additional languages would be beneficial 
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbal, grammar, proofing, and editing skills
  • Strong ability to convert technical information into easy to understand documents
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to command and control an audience
  • Ability to lead without direct control
Specific Knowledge & Experience: 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Satellite Communications
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in training development and delivery
  • Excellent understanding of communications satellites and the use of satellites in telecommunications networks is a plus
  • Mechanical VSAT installation and commissioning experience
  • In depth knowledge of satellite ground systems (ideally knowledge of systems)
  • Thorough understanding of Learning Management Systems
  • Experience in a start-up environment is a plus
