Senior Network Architect or Sr Network Engineer

Responsibilities would vary from Architect to Engineer depending on professional experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or eight (8) + years networking experience
  • Knowledge of  fixed, portable and maritime and/or aeronautical satellite communications
  • Five years field experience working with LAN/WAN networks using IPv4/IPv6
  • Technical certifications with Inmarsat, Thuraya or Iridium
  • CCNA and CCNP certifications
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience presenting technical solutions to a non-technical C-level type of audiences
  • Ability to align and coordinate customer technical activities, operations and resources with architectural vision (e.g. technical specialization resources, technical marketing and advanced services delivery)
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse organization
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Ability to meet customer short suspense’s and timeliness
  • Technical experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally as required
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for designing, implementing and supporting custom terrestrial MPLS network as part of a hybrid end to end solution that includes  satellite networks, link enhancement, compression and encryption
  • Integration of networks across Red/Black encryption
  • Provides business development staff with information on updated technologies enhancing customer satellite communication solutions
  • Internally supports Program Management and Business Development teams in creating technical documentation and proposals by providing IP/IPv6 consultation 
  • Externally supports IP/IPv6 aspects of deployed customer solutions
  • Supports corporate network and security resources
  • Manages support of hosted customer equipment and local IT infrastructure as required
  • Supports sales and provisioning staff with technical engineering assistance or guidance
  • Works with vendors to supply quotes for equipment or services as needed
  • Conducts research into advanced topics significant to the customer and cultivate relationships with the subject matter experts
  • Provides engineering support of customer base with existing and evolved products
  • Assists users with product configuration and support
  • Performs installation and site acceptance testing as needed
  • Maintains onsite customer owned equipment
  • Maintains lab equipment for operational use, repair and updates as required
  • Works within budget constraints to provide the best solution possible for customers
  • Assists other network administrators through support, maintenance and training
  • Follows and suggests latest technologies to enhance corporate network
  • Documents network updates and changes
  • Participates in business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Maintains our IT infrastructure and network services
  • Designs, implements and provides support in maintaining the Cisco based VoIP systems
  • Designs, implements and provides support in maintaining the Polycom VTC system
  • Provides support and upgrade solutions for the existing Cisco based switches and routers
  • Provides support and upgrades solution for the Cisco ASA device
  • Designs and implements backbone MPLS network
  • Point of contact for troubleshooting of our MPLS and Internet access services
  • Provides support with Palo Alto security device for our intrusion Detection/prevention system.
  • Provides design and engineering support for our wireless network
  • Makes recommendations on network upgrades and updates
  • Helps support troubleshooting activities on VPN connectivity, VTC issues, VoIP issues, Internet access, Inter-company link issues,and switching and routing issues
  • Provides optimization plan for all IT network operational systems
  • Identifies solutions for additions, deletions and modifications to our IT network
  • Assists in proposal support and IT solutions as required
