Our client is seeking a qualified candidate for their SatCom Program Manager  opening! This position is a direct hire with our client.


Location: Herndon/Northern Virginia

Security Clearance: Secret Security Clearance

 

Overview:

The Program Manager leads/manages all aspects of complex Satellite Communications (SATCOM) services for US Government customers. The Program Manager orchestrates the design, implementation, transition, operation and maintenance of complete end-to-end SATCOM networks for USG customers and supports related business development efforts.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Management or relevant field, or 10-12 years program/project management experience in government contracting operations
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Defense Acquisition University (DAU) equivalent
  • 10 years experience in the U.S. Government or Commercial industry SATCOM industry
  • Extensive knowledge/critical understanding of DoD SATCOM program demands
  • Extensive business development experience including leading proposal captures
  • Extensive experience managing profit and loss on U.S. Government contracts
  • Experience implementing and delivering customer managed services
  • Experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of global, enterprise,end-to-end satellite communications solutions including space segment, ground segment, operational services, information assurance and all program related tasks
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and risk management principals
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically to meet customer demands
  • Strong emphasis placed on follow through responsibilities based on task priorities
  • Self-motivated ability to deliver in a fast paced environment with emphasis on follow through responsibilities based on management direction
  • Able to work independently; must possess multi-tasking skills
  • Displays excellent judgment and makes sound decisions
  • In-depth understanding of internal matrixed work processes; must be able to work with other departments within company and its broader staff
  • Results orientation with a drive and passion to make stretch commitments and demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding work
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office 365 suite and MS Project required
  • Ability to work in front of a computer for long periods of time
  • Up to 20% travel required

Essential Job Functions:

  • Leads all aspects of program implementation from planning to operations and maintenance for the full program life cycle
  • In concert with Sales and Business Development team members, may lead or support any aspect of the business development cycle for assigned programs
  • Promotes business development thru exceptional customer relations, and grows the business on existing and new contract vehicles
  • Manages cost, schedule, performance, risk and stakeholder expectations on assigned programs
  • Develops and executes comprehensive Program Management plans that provide the roadmap to meeting customer program requirements on time and within budget
  • Acts as primary customer interface within customer programs; coordinates periodic meetings, provides required status reports and ensures customer issues are addressed/resolved in a timely fashion and within contract parameters
  • Institutes industry project management principles in accordance with corporate policies
  • Interfaces with key vendors in coordination with company procurement/contracts to ensure requirements are delivered on time and within budget
  • Interfaces with company senior management pertaining to assigned programs to report program performance (technical and financial)
  • Develops/improves program management procedures with customer programs
  • Identifies opportunities within customer programs and works with the program team to propose solutions to grow the program
  • Works closely with assigned government agencies, vendors and internal staff to oversee and coordinate all functions related to client programs
  • Manages programs, including P&L, and identifies new sales opportunities
  • Provides expert services/guidance through facilitation, analysis and program reviews
  • Promotes the utilization of project management standards across programs to include communications, quality and risk assessment strategies
  • Provides expert services and leadership to the project team, as appropriate, through facilitation, information sharing, analysis and reviews
  • He/she will employ the utilization of corporate project management standards across the full scope of customer requirements
