The Senior Director for Product and Fleet Development is responsible for leading efforts in a wide range of technical, business development, market and bandwidth demand analysis, business case modeling, corporate integration and liaison support for the Senior Director, Hosted Payloads. This position also serves as a technical/business development resource to other members of the company's executive staff. This position represents the company, individually or as part of an team in support of company-wide strategic growth and business development initiatives. These initiatives could include, but are not limited to: strategic growth and business development initiatives, organic fleet development activities, integration with corporate strategic. External interactions may include interfacing with STRATCOM, Joint Force Component Commander Space, and Joint Space Operations Center (JSPOC). This position supports the hosted payload initiative with market analysis and business case development and ensures business case modeling, analysis tools, evaluation criteria and processes are current and consistent with corporate counterparts. These tasks will be realized through frequent contact with counterparts including travel as required.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Satellite Communications Subject Matter Expert - assists as requested for any sales or capture efforts to enhance revenue generation from existing assets
  • Defines business strategies/tactics for the Company and implements approved plans for improving the company's position in the satellite market. 
  • Identifies, qualifies and develops mid- to long-term business development opportunities
  • Seeks out opportunities for new fleet investments and/or developments which are consistent with the strategic goals and financial objectives
  • Supports the development of new fleet offerings that will improve market presence
  • Works with corporate development groups to study and, where appropriate, propose the introduction of new fleet technologies, products/services that meets the needs of our U.S. Government customers
  • Works with corporate to develop business cases for investments required to compete in the Government market
  • Works interactively with the Senior Staff on large strategic opportunities, provides support wherever possible for activities that generate or improve revenues from corporate assets
  • Identifies, prioritizes and, where appropriate, executes on opportunities (alliances, joint ventures, etc.) which deliver the growth objectives
  • Makes the organization more effective by having detailed knowledge and understanding of the customer needs, the market trends and competitive positioning and communicating that knowledge effectively to the organization, especially at the parent organizational levels
  • Develops and maintains relationships with governmental organizations, competitors, satellite operators and, where appropriate, vendors with a view to potential market development opportunities
  • Coordinates developmental initiatives as appropriate
  • Enhance working relationship and coordination between development teams
  • Work with executive staff to understand product and market dynamics in different markets
  • Performs other duties as assigned by senior management


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Satellite Communications or a minimum of seven(7) years experience with satellite engineering, communications, operations and systems engineering principals
  • At least five (5)years program/project management experience or equivalent leadership experience in government oriented operations, with DoD/US Government satellite experience desired
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering management, and business development
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and strong background/experience in dealing with government customers and acquisition processes
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs, satellite operational issues, assess implications, determine impact, develop and implement an appropriate action plans
  • Outstanding organizational, problem solving, human relations, interpersonal and communications skills at all management levels both internally and externally
  • Outstanding presentation skills - ability to provide presentations to both commercial and DoD audiences
  • Well organized, self-starting individual who has the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Be able to work independently and possess multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent customer relations skills - ability to build relationships with customers
  • Excellent verbal and written skills – experience in U. S. Government proposal writing is highly desired
  • An ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple time-sensitive tasks in a demanding environment
  • Ability to think strategically and plan accordingly
  • Strong emphasis placed on follow through responsibilities based on priorities
  • Displays excellent judgment, high ethical standards and makes sound decisions
  • Ability to work with other personnel and manage resources to implement projects
  • Displays a professional attitude/appearance to customers, co-workers and managers
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time both international/domestically to meet and confer with staff/customers
